The
Council on Addictions of New York State, Inc. (
CANYS
) is an organization of community-based prevention, education,
intervention and treatment agencies throughout
New York
State
. Our meetings address concerns and issues that affect prevention,
treatment and recovery of diseases of addiction. We also support each
other on issues related to organizational efficiency.
CANYS
continues to grow! As an incorporated statewide organization, we are
undertaking projects that support the mission of Council: advocating on
local, regional, state and national levels; sharing resources to promote
public awareness. Currently, over 75% of Councils in NYS became 2007 paid
members. Please take time to
renew your membership. If you

A typical CANYS Meeting
format…
A
CANYS
meeting is a wonderful opportunity to network, share with colleagues both
the excitement of new program development as well as the challenges we
face. Often we will schedule a workshop or information meeting on Thursday
afternoon, followed by, a break from our hectic work schedules, with
Thursday evening dinner. The
Friday business meeting provides us all with the opportunity to share both
successes and challenges, most often finding out that we are not in this
alone. Most importantly the strength of the CANYS meeting gives us the
opportunity to work together to assure the strength and effectiveness of
all community-based prevention, education, intervention and treatment
agencies in
New York
State
.
We
frequently invite key leadership Friday morning.
